How to Make Any Android Device a Mobile Wi-Fi Hotspot Without Having to Root!

In this article I will show you how to make your Android device a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot. Even better, you can do this without root access! The first method though, will in fact require root access. If you are rooted, simply go into the Android Market, and search for "Wireless Tether". Once installed, you can simply give the app super-user permissions, and it will become a hotspot. Our next solution is with a program called Quick Settings. This is also in the Android Market, and also, won't require you to root your phone. After installed, you need to set it up, just a bit though. Basically, press "menu", and then go to "Preferences". There you can change which settings you want to be visible, and which ones you want to have hidden. The only one we care about, is Wi-Fi hotspot. After configured, go back, and turn on Wi-Fi hotspot, and then in the notifications bar, you can see its status. Press the notification, and it will take you to the settings off the hotspot, such as its name, security, and password. Here is video for a bit more reference:

Google Holding a Android App Sale!

Google is now holding a sale for certain Android Market apps, for the next 10 days. These will be paid apps, and will only cost ten cents each. Basically this sale is to celebrate 10 billion app downloads. This is a pretty cool sale, so if you have an Android device, get on the Android Market!

Google Music!

Today, Google hosted a special announcement event called "These go to Eleven". In the event, the main attraction was Google Music. Google Music is officially released; no longer a beta. There are some awesome changes now, too. Your Google Music can be accessed at music.google.com. You can access that from any browser, even the iOS browser. There is also integration with the Android Market. There you will be able to buy "millions of songs", says Google. Of course, these features will only be available to people with their Android's updated to 2.2, and running the newest Android Markt version. Also, there will be a "free song of the day" similar to what Amazon does. Google wraps all of their software together, as what you listen to on Google Music, shows up on your Google+ stream. CyangonMod 9 to be here Within the next 3 Months!

CyangonMod 9 to be coming in January! As you can see on CM's official Twitter page, they have announced that they will be releasing CyanogenMod 9 on Ice Cream Sandwich devices. Not only that, but CyanogenMod 7.2 will be released despite the fact that CM9 is their main project. CM9 will probably be released in January or February. Even though this tweet says "2 months", there can easily be delays.

Why the DROID Razr probably isn't the Phone for You

Lately in smartphone news, there has been great hype over the new, updated, Droid Razr. The phone came out yesterday, November 11th. If you don't already know, This is a dual-core phone, dual-cameras, 4GLTE, and a Super AMOLED display. The big selling point: It's the thinnest smartphone on the market. Which leads me to think that a lot of people shouldn't be getting this phone. Now sure, if you aren't clumsy with your phone, or you don't excessively use your smartphone, then these don't apply to you. But If so, keep on reading.
The only reason I say this Razr might not be for you, is if you just "want" the thinnest phone. After I state these reasons, you might second guess upgrading your phone... unless you're coming from the original Razr.
Let's start with battery issues. If you're a power user; or even just use your phone a lot; you'll probably be putting an extended battery on this phone, especially since it's dual-core, and 4GLTE. These facts ruin the point of the"worlds thinnest phone". Also, since this phone is pretty expensive, you want to protect it. Meaning, there will be a case on the phone. What's the point anymore?

How the Death of Flash will Effect the Smartphone Battles

So, since Flash killed off Adobe on mobile devices, how will this effect the company battles between Google and Apple. The reason I use Google and Apple as examples, is because Apple claimed Adobe Flash was not the way of the future while Google used this as a marketing win, by putting Flash on Android. Now, Apple is in the right, since Flash will no longer be put on new smartphones. Joke is on you Google. Adobe finally admitted, and agreed with Apple on this issue. It looks like HTML5 is where we're headed. This will effect the battle between smartphone companies, noticing that one of the key selling points was in fact, the ability to run Flash.

Flash is Gone on Mobile Devices!

Adobe is pretty much killing off Flash. Don't worry, not completely, but Adobeis killing Flash on any mobile device. Android, BlackBerry OS, everything. Adobe also said that flash is really not in our future, and that something else should takeover. My thoughts on this? Well, flash is still here, and it will be quite a while until people totally convert from flash to html5, or something else. It's great that Adobe is admitting that change is needed. Motorola RAZR Heading to AT&T?

The Motorola Droid RAZR was announced last week and we already know it will be heading off to Verizon with some blazing fast 4G LTE. Earlier today, it seems that the same RAZR has passed through the FCC with some AT&T bands, which means the Verizon "DROID" won't be present in the name.



It would make sense for Motorola to release a freshly remodeled RAZR to multiple carriers like they did with the original RAZR. If this phone makes it to AT&T, I actually might consider this over my iPhone! I guess we all just have to wait and see until then.

Samsung/Google Galaxy Nexus Specs!

So, last night, Samsung announced their extremely hyped Galaxy Nexus. Yes, Galaxy Nexus, not Nexus Prime, like all the rumors pointed to. This Galaxy Nexus will have a 4.65 inch-screen, with a display resolution of 1280 x 720p (Super AMOLED HD). It's like an HDTV, in your pocket! For RAM, it's holding 1GB, and for storage options, the Nexus will come in two different versions; 16GB, and 32GB. The Galaxy Nexus wil also be using LTE, and possibly, soon, HSPA+. The Galaxy Nexus will not be available in any different color options; only black. There is aso a 1750mAh battery aboard the deviceThe only thingI am weary of about this phone is the camera, which will be a 5MP back-facing camera, with 1080p video recording. For the front-facing camera, it wil stay pretty standard for font-facing cameras; 1.3MP. Now, the Galaxy Nexus will be running Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich. One new feature is FaceUnlock. FaceUnlock will be able to recognize your face to unlock the device. There will be a little different design for the lockscreen, and homescreen, but nothing mind-blowing.
